FILMVICTORIA (Film VIC)"We are delighted to hear of your new initiative to attract private money to the documentary industry. The rationale is sound and very much in keeping with Film Victoria's commitment to strengthening the Victorian documentary sector and building more sustainable businesses." Sandra Sdraulig, Chief Executive Officer, Film Victoria Film Victoria confirmed that it was prepared to co-finance productions with foundation grants and has done so in the past. In the past Film VIC has financed productions where no market place attachments were in place, however, in most cases the projects have television presales. With the increasing pressure on limited production funds Film VIC has increasing expectations regarding evidence of prospective audiences. In the case where there was no television presale, Film VIC would require an approved third party documentary distributor or sales agent who is able to provide evidence of significant sales projections via any lawful means or media. To this end, Film Victoria is currently reviewing its policy on support for films to be distributed via new media. Of course Film Victoria welcomes the scenario where there is a television presale and distributor in place in view of increasing competition for funds from government agencies, broadcasters and distributors. |
