PACIFIC FILMAND TELEVISION COMMISSION (PFTC)The PFTC is prepared to co-finance with foundation grants and individuals but would need a television presale as part of the finance. To date the PFTC has not financed any production with private money in the mix. When asked if the PFTC could co-finance a production which had no market place attachment the response was: In special cases it might be possible for us to invest if there is strong evidence of a commitment from end users. We would nevertheless need a special budget allocation from Government o do this as our current budget is dedicated to non-grant projects. It would have to do with evidence of a special use and the kind of purpose and outcome the project is seeking (eg health, education etc) as our remit at present requires a broadcaster and in some cases a distribution company (or sales agent) as well.
