"Thank you for your letter regarding the exciting new initiative to raise documentary funding from the private sector and philanthropic foundations. This has certainly been the practice in the United States where documentary as a form of education and impetus for social change is recognised by foundations and private companies as a way of participating in good citizenship.

The SAFC has a long history in documentary financing and support. The SAFC would welcome the opportunity to participate in a wide range of programs with philanthropic organisations and foundations on these terms. We have been involved on a number of such projects made by South Australian filmmakers for the international release.

The SAFC would consider funding with a private individual and or philanthropic foundation on a case by case basis where a South Australian filmmaker is the principal copyright owner.

The SAFC would consider financing where no marketplace attachment such as presales or guarantees was in place, however at a much lower level.
