Documentary Australia Foundation

Documentary Australia Foundation (DAF) is Australia's only independent non-profit organisation that creates social impact through documentary film.

DAF was established in 2008 to make it possible for philanthropists to tax-effectively collaborate with filmmakers to tell stories that change lives.

DAF has helped raise more than $20 million for Australian documentary filmmakers, allowing them to share their stories and passion around Australia and the world.

DAF makes it easy for documentary filmmakers to fund their films and documentary lovers to support social change.

How does DAF work?

Documentary filmmakers register a project and start a fundraising campaign. Donors give funds to DAF and nominate a preference for which project receives support.

Donations to DAF of $2 or more are tax deductible.

The DAF board assesses the gift and approves grants to the film, taking donor preferences into consideration. Filmmakers then receive the funds to support their documentary projects.
